FIGHTERS: An Explanation

After reading several novels in the sub-genre of Fighters, we decided to do some research about these hot men. Here are the top ten things we learned about the sport of professional fighting from both our reading and research:

  1. A great coach is key to a successful fighter. They keep them motivated, dedicated, and frustrated, so they can be at optimal aggression before a big fight.

  2. There are three ways to win: Knockout, Submission or Decision.

  3. After a big fight, win or loss, these men like to let off steam by giving their women or a ring bunny a good pounding! Mmmmmmmmm

  4. Before a fight they adhere to a strict diet, no fun filled carbs!? WTF?

  5. There are many different forms of professional fighting, some legal and some are on the DL. MMA (mixed martial arts) is one of the most popular, and requires full body contact.

  6. Tapout is when a fighter signals, by tapping the mat three times, that they are conceding the fight.

  7. Size matters, there is a weigh in and 8 different weight classes of fighters.

  8. The Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) is the largest mixed martial arts promotion company in the world.

  9. Protection is key! A fighter must wrap his hands, wear mouth protection, and don a groin protector. MMA is safer than boxing because if a fighter is knocked out they are not able to return to the fight.

  10. Normal fights are 3 rounds at 5 minutes each, while championship matches have 5 rounds at 5 minutes.
