James Laird and Lola Caraway have been next door neighbors and best friends since elementary school. James was always the ultimate player, and after graduation moves to LA and finds his place as a rising star in the porn industry. Lola, three years younger, is a studious overachiever and on track for graduation and success in college.
Lola knows about and accepts James and his debauchery; it’s never been a secret between the two friends. However, a hometown visit prompts James to face his evolving feelings for her, especially after his conservative family discovers his true profession and she comes to his rescue. Not wanting to seduce the innocent Lola, he returns to California, where he sets his sights on becoming a superstar in the industry.
While Lola is visiting James from college, they dance around their attraction to each other. After Lola admits she’s never had an orgasm, James offers to be her hands-on teacher. A lifetime of friendship with a manwhore tells Lola that she should not get attached to James as a lover, as tempting as his offer may be. Can she please her body while still protecting her heart?
From the author of some of the highest rated erotic romance on Smashwords comes this first look into a world of love, friendship…and porn. (via Goodreads.com)
We loved that this novel has a unique concept, with the main character being a pornstar. Giovanni does an excelent of making the character of James both extremely relatable and likeable, despite his career. You want to be friends with him.
There is a solid history between the two characters, and a foundation for their relationship to grow. We enjoy HEAs where the loving relationship is based in friendship.
The supporting cast in this novel are extremely well written and they add dimension to the narrative. You want to get to know them, they are not caricatures but characters.
Why We Love Lola:
Lola is a triple threat, not only is she kind and beautiful, but also extremely intelligent.
Even though Lola does not have a lot of worldly experience her acceptance of people, especially of those who are outside the norm, is an wonderfully admirable trait.
- Lola is a great compliment to James, she calls him on his bull crappy, and is not afraid to speak her mind. They are two-halves of a whole.
Why We Love James:
James might enjoy a lot of women, but he respects them. This is demonstrated not only in his relationship with Lola but also with co-stars and other women he spends time with.
James is a mama’s boy. He might play the Dom in his movies but he is actually a very sensitive guy, who loves his mother.
- Even though the lover’s relationship is not resolved in this novel, there is a lot of HAWT sex, James is a pornstar after all.
