One of our favorite things about the holiday season is our Mum’s delicious cooking. A home filled with the aromas our family’s traditional holiday fare, bring warmth and comfort. So in the spirit of the season we would like to share our favorite recipes with our readers.
Tourtiere Recipe – is a meat pie originating from Quebec, usually made with finely diced pork and/or veal, or beef.
1 ½ lb of lean ground pork
salt and pepper
add 1 ½ fine bread crumbs
2 tablespoons of finely chopped onions
1 tablespoon of thyme
Pre-heat oven to 425. Brown pork in frying pan. Add salt and pepper to taste. Add bread crumbs, onion, and thyme. Stir mixture on low heat and let cool. Place in pie crust and cook until golden brown. 30 mins
1 14oz brie wheel
½ cup of brown sugar
½ sliced almonds
1 tablespoon of melted butter
Pre-heat oven to 500 degrees. Bake the brie on an oven proof platter for 4 mins, or until brie is soft. Stir the sugar and nuts together. Place sugar and nut mixture on top of cooked brie and then cook for an additional 2 mins. Serve with crackers.
